What is the weight capacity of your heavy-duty drawer slides?
The range covers 200kg, 227kg, 300kg, 350kg, and 500kg. The 227kg slides are available in both locking and non-locking versions, making them the most versatile option for ute, van, and 4WD drawer builds. The 200kg, 300kg, 350kg, and 500kg slides are TUMA aluminium units suited to more demanding industrial and commercial fitouts.
For safety and longevity, we recommend choosing a slide with a capacity slightly higher than your maximum expected load. Please note that drawer slides support approximately 30% less weight capacity than indicated by their nominated rating when at full open extension.
Are these slides suitable for mounting in 4WD canopies and trailers?
Yes. These slides are specifically designed for the harsh conditions of the Australian automotive and transport industries. They are made of zinc-plated steel or TUMA, and have a high vibration resistance to withstand the constant vibrations, dust, and movement associated with off-road travel and canopy fit-outs.
What is the difference between the locking and non-locking drawer slides?
The locking version holds the drawer open or closed until manually released, which is useful in mobile applications where the drawer needs to stay put while the vehicle is in motion or when loading. The non-locking version slides freely without a hold mechanism. Both are rated to 227kg.
What lengths are available in the heavy-duty range?
We stock a wide variety of lengths to suit different builds, generally starting from 200mm and extending up to 2000mm or more. When selecting a length, ensure you have sufficient depth in your cabinet or carcass to allow the slide to sit flush when the drawer is closed.
Do these slides offer full extension?
Yes, the majority of our heavy-duty range provide 100% full extension. This allows the drawer to pull out completely past the cabinet face, giving you unobstructed access to the very back of the drawer. This is ideal for heavy toolboxes or fridge slides.
What is the Outbak Track system and how does it differ from standard drawer slides?
The Outbak Track system uses an aluminium V-groove track (available in 2.8m lengths) combined with V-groove wheels (16mm or 36mm) rather than a conventional slide rail assembly. This allows for more flexible drawer or tray configurations, particularly where longer travel distances or custom spacing is needed. Track and wheels are sold separately, so you can cut the aluminium track to suit your build and use as many wheels as required for the load.
