Are your locking slides sold as a pair?
Yes. To ensure maximum stability and safety, our locking kits are sold as a pair.
What weight capacity should I choose for a 4WD fridge slide?
For fridge slides or heavy tool drawers, we recommend slides that are rated 125kg to 227kg, like our locking drawer slides. When calculating the required capacity, remember to include the weight of the drawer itself plus the maximum weight of the contents. For off-road use, it is always safer to over-specify the load rating to account for the extra force generated by bumps and corrugations.
Can these locking slides withstand dust and grit in off-road conditions?
Our slides are built for the Australian environment, featuring high-quality steel ball bearings and robust cages. While they are highly durable, we recommend occasionally wiping the tracks clean and applying a dry-film lubricant if they are exposed to heavy bull-dust, as this prevents the grit from sticking to the grease.
Are the locking levers easy to operate with gloves on?
Yes. The triggers are designed with ergonomics in mind, featuring large, high-visibility handles that are easy to depress. This makes them ideal for tradespeople on worksites or campers who need quick, easy access to their gear in all conditions.
What is the difference between side-mounting and base-mounting locking slides?
Locking slides are engineered for side-mounting to achieve their full load rating. While they can be installed flat under a drawer, this position places vertical stress on the bearings and significantly reduces the weight capacity (often by over 50%). For heavy-duty applications, side-mounting is the only way to ensure the locking mechanism and bearings perform as rated.
Do I need any special tools for installation?
Standard tools like a drill, rivets, or M6/M8 bolts (depending on the model) are sufficient. Because these are precision-engineered components, it is critical that the cabinet and drawer are perfectly square; even a slight misalignment can cause the locking mechanism to stick or the slides to bind.
